MOT TESTING
£54.85
MOT tests are mandatory vehicle tests that must be retaken every year to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive and in a roadworthy condition. In order to drive your vehicle legally, you must have a valid MOT, road tax and insurance on your vehicle. Failure to do so could result in fines and points on your licence.
MOT
DEFECT CATEGORIES
Dangerous, Major & Minor
During an MOT test, any faults found on your vehicle are classified as Minor, Major, or Dangerous defects. These categories help determine whether your vehicle passes or fails and whether it is safe to drive.
MINOR DEFECTS are issues that do not significantly affect the safety or environmental impact of your vehicle, but repairs should be carried out to prevent further deterioration.
MAJOR DEFECTS are more serious faults that could affect the vehicles safety, roadworthiness, or environmental performance. Any major defect will result in an MOT failure and should be repaired promptly. However, you can still drive if any existing MOT remains valid.
DANGEROUS DEFECTS indicate an immediate risk to road safety or the environment. If a dangerous defect is identified, the vehicle will fail it’s MOT and should not be driven until the fault has been repaired, even with a valid Existing MOT in place.
